Why sending is slow at the moment ...

Hi,

Right, so, a few days back, we had an issue with very slow sending.

The reason was actually 2 fold ...

1. We had a hacker attack our DB server. He/She/They did NOT get in! NOTHING was compromised, other than the server running very slow.

2. At the SAME time, we setup our new, UBER, MONSTER database server, and set it up in a cluster with the current 1. This was done so that when we switch over to the new server, there will be virtually zero down time.

Unfortunately we did not realize how much of an effect there would be to get the new server in sync with the current server.

The act of syncing the databases between the old and the new, the INITIAL sync, has now been running for 2 days, and THAT has been the PRIMARY culprit of the slow sending.

We estimate the initial sync will run another 24 hours or so.

Until this finishes, sending will be slower than usual. ALL mail IS being sent, just at a slower rate than what you have been accustomed to.

We do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience being caused, BUT, at the same time, we trust you will understand that this move is important not only for growth, BUT, for MASSIVE increases in overall speed. Once we have flipped over to the new database server, sending will be faster than it has EVER been.

So, initial sync should be done sometime tomorrow, and we will do the flip over to the new DB server over the weekend if all goes well.

Kind Regards,

Imnica Mail Team.
